Today I did the special walking tour with Christop Today I did the special walking tour with Christopher and Oana. Their request was "Philosopher's path" and "Nanzenji temple". So we met at Ginkakujimichi nere to the Philosopher's path. It was not too much but gorgeous enough. Not so busy. They were 4 family members, but tasting was for 3 because one of them was a 1 year old baby. Sometimes such a baby should be so nervous about an unknown person, but he was so cute and friendly. I cuddled him 2 times. I remembered the time my son was a baby like him over 10 years ago. But they were family, so organized, I could make good communication with all of them. They came from Los Angeles, so I could talk about Dodgers a lot. After tasting I took them to Gion area walking. We went to Fushimi Inari shrine, Kinkakuji temple golden pavilion and Nanzenji temple. First 2 places were the most famous and popular places in Kyoto. Any season so impressive. Nanzenji temple was the best timing for red maple leaves now, of course busy but not too busy like first 2 places. They said Nanzenji temple was the best. Yeah I thought so. Today it was so good weather. Today I did the full day bike tour with Rob and Sh Today I did the full day bike tour with Rob and Sheraton. We went to many places. One of them is the too big yellow ginkgo tree temple. It was awesome. We went to an oldest Japanese cafe (1000 years old), they enjoyed the mochi of 1000 years old recipe. We took lunch at a local sushi restaurant. The owner sheff is my friend. They said it was the best sushi. After the lunch we went to Nanzenji temple. It was totally best timing for the red maple leaves. Final destination was Fushimi Inari shrine. They enjoyed the 10000 red torii gates. Today I did the walking temple tour with Caroline Today I did the walking temple tour with Caroline and her husband. But today's walking temple tour was a different version. Because Kenninji zen temple was closed for the special ceremony. And Houkanji temple (5 stories pagoda) opened today. And they wanted to visit "not too touristy" place. So we walked around Gion area, went into the 5 stories pagoda, walked through shirakawa area and Kyoto Kyocera museum to Nanzenji area. We visited Tenjuan temple. It was my 4th time to visit there in this one week. Every time so amazing. But every time different about the color of the maple leaves. We went to Kenninji zen temple and Houkanji temple. After that I took them to Kiyomizu dera temple. But on the way there were too many people on the street. Christine told me that they didn't want to walk more on such a too much busy street. She asked me the other option. So I decided taking them to Nanzenji temple. We took 2 taxis (because only 4 could ride one taxi) to Nanzenji temple. They said that it was "the" place they wanted to visit in Kyoto. Yeah this Tenjuan temple gardens were one of the best in Kyoto. But their request was not Gion area and houkanji temple because they already booked another tour with Gion and Houkanji temple. So I changed the itinerary, we walked along shirakawa river to Nanzenji temple. At Nanzenji temple, we went to Tenjuan temple. I went there last week, it was gorgeous last week. But today it was more gorgeous, so impressive. They said they came from salt lake city, highland city. Already the red leaves season had finished. So it was just chilly (of course he putted an orange color jacket). Ay Yasaka Koushin-do, Erin bought a color ball. It was a "Kukuri saru", a wishing ball. So this morning we talked about the itinerary when we met at their hotel. I took them to Sanjusangendo temple, Kenninji zen temple, tofu restaurant and Tenjuan temple. All different types of places, they could have a variety of experiences in one day. Usually the best timing of the red maple leaves is at the end of November. But it was gorgeous at Tenjuan temple. Of course it wasn't totally red, but we could see various colors. I thought such various colors were better than just red color. They enjoyed today's customized tour. This afternoon I did the walking temple tour with This afternoon I did the walking temple tour with Andreas and Marleen. Originally this tour was planned for yesterday. But the weather forecast said tomorrow should be rainy. So we postponed today. In the beginning it was a good weather, but in the mid of the tour rain shower started. We waited for 5 minutes, the rain stopped. After restarting the tour we visited Kiyomizu dera temple. The view from there was so impressive with great sunset. Almost the end of the tour, Marleen said "may I check this shop for one minute?". Of course it was OK because it was their time. That shop was a recycling kimono shop. She checked some kimonos, those were "shibori" silk kimonos. But not too expensive. I thought the price might be 5 times of the price tag. They bought one kimono. It was a amazing shopping in Kyoto for them. At Kamogawa delta, kids jumped over the stepping stones again and again and again. I asked them "do you like it?" Then they said "it's the best part in this tour." I asked Stephanie "Of course you can choose that we will stay here more than 1 hour and just go back to the bike rental shop." Her answer was "hey boys, let's go now!" Kamogawa delta is the great place. But of course there are many great places more. I was happy because she said that. Stephanie said I shouldn't use the picture with them because of their kids.
